The tour started at SunEden on Friday, 8th November 2024. Most of our 16 guests were Dutch and they all arrived after 10pm on that Friday night. Amanda had arranged drinks, coffee and snacks which were enjoyed by our guests even though it was after midnight. Lofty used that time to deliver all the luggage to the various chalets. While at SunEden, all 3 meals per day were supplied by the SunCafe and the guests were quite happy with the food and the service was really great.
After the late night, our guests rested on the Saturday and Sunday, then on the Monday, we took them to the beautiful Bird of Paradise in Vanderbijlpark. We all undressed, and we only wore sarongs in the minibuses, on the way to the Vaal River. We boarded the boat and after a few minutes, the Captain, Jade, gave us the go ahead to remove the sarongs. As usual the food platters were delicious and more than enough to feed an army. Dave and Deon also ensured that the beers and wine were cold. If you have not been to Bird of Paradise, we suggest that you go there. Our guests really enjoyed the 3-hour naked boat cruise.
On that Tuesday, our guests attended their first safari (game drive) at the Dinokeng Game Reserve where they saw 3 of the Big5 animals. They also saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and many other wild animals and birds. We had breakfast at the Mongena Private Lodge and the food was delicious. Our guests enjoyed the relaxation at the pools that afternoon.
On the Wednesday, after breakfast, we headed for the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. We had booked the whole guesthouse and so we were able to be nude while we were there, not only in the pool area but also in the restaurant. That afternoon, our guests went on a safari with a very good guide who went out of his way to find the Big5 animals and other animals such as Hippos. Once again, the guests saw 3 of the Big 5 but not the same Big5 as in Dinokeng. On the Thursday, the plan was to go in a Hot Air Balloon, but it was too windy, so it was cancelled. We then booked another safari, and our guests were thrilled with that second game drive.
On the Friday we went to Lesedi Cultural Village and some of our guests went on the Harties Cableway. The lunch was enjoyed by everybody especially the crocodile and kudu. After lunch we went to the Desnudo Naturist Resort where we were welcomed by Jacques and Laura. We showed the guests around the resort and then we had a skinny dip and a drink sponsored by Joxilox Tours. Our guests were suitably impressed by the beautiful resort and especially the plans to build much more accommodation and a new restaurant and pub.
The second weekend at SunEden was so much busier than the previous weekend because it was the annual clothing optional weekend which was fully booked. Our guests sang at the karaoke, played naked golf at the Sunlinks Golf Course, and they also had massages. On the Sunday, we took our guests to the Apartheid Museum and to the Voortrekker Monument which they really enjoyed even though there was far too much to read about our history.
