Ancient seas, wild mountains and island light โ Greece may have a small naturist hospitality sector, but what exists is exceptional: intimate, genuinely Greek, and utterly unforgettable.
Greece ยท Naturist directory
Greece is not yet a mass naturist destination in the way that France, Croatia or the Canary Islands are โ but what it offers is something those destinations rarely can: extraordinary landscapes, genuine Greek hospitality, crystal Aegean and Ionian waters, and naturist properties of real quality spread across four entirely different islands.
Vritomartis in Crete was the pioneer โ the first dedicated naturist resort to open in Greece, in 1992. What followed was a small but thoughtfully assembled family of properties on Rhodes, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, each with its own distinct character and setting. Greece rewards the naturist who seeks something beyond the familiar resort formula.

Greece's naturist map
Vritomartis is the pioneer of Greek naturism โ the first resort of its kind in Greece, open since 1992 and named after the ancient Minoan goddess Britomartis, worshipped in this part of Crete in antiquity. It sits on a dramatic promontory on Crete's wild south coast, two kilometres from the small village of Chora Sfakion, with the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) rising steeply behind and the Libyan Sea stretching to the horizon ahead. The setting is extraordinary: rugged, remote and genuinely unspoilt.
The resort has 85 air-conditioned rooms โ 42 in the main building and 43 bungalows in nine separate buildings scattered through the well-tended gardens. All rooms have private balcony or patio, mini-fridge, satellite TV, safe and WiFi. A 25-metre swimming pool is the social heart of the resort; the naturist beach Filaki is a 15-minute walk (or 5 minutes by shuttle bus). The resort restaurant serves buffet breakfast and dinner with local produce โ much of it from their own vegetable garden and olive trees โ and Mediterranean cuisine of consistently high quality.
On-site activities include aqua aerobics, yoga, archery, tennis, volleyball and evening entertainment. The resort organises naturist boat trips to hidden coves along the coast, naturist walking excursions in the nearby gorges, and cultural excursions across the island. Clothes are required in all indoor areas and during meals. The resort is INF-affiliated and actively committed to sustainable development. It books out early โ advance reservation is strongly recommended.
Naturist Angel is a 3-star adults-only club hotel on the island of Rhodes, set in a lush tropical garden at Paradisi on the west coast โ just five kilometres from Diagoras Airport and a four-minute walk from the Aegean Sea. All 32 rooms open onto a private balcony or patio with views of either the mountains or the sea, fitted with air conditioning, satellite TV, mini-fridge and Egyptian cotton bedding.
The hotel has an outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas, a poolside bar, an ร la carte restaurant, fitness centre and a library. The naturist beach is 600 metres away. Activities available at or near the resort include scuba diving, aqua aerobics, yoga, themed evenings and excursions across the island. Rhodes itself is one of the most historically rich islands in the Mediterranean โ the Palace of the Grand Master, the ancient site of Kamiros, and the Valley of the Butterflies are all within easy reach. The hotel is couples-oriented, with a quiet and respectful atmosphere that suits those looking for a genuine naturist holiday away from the noise of the island's main resorts.
When operating, Vassaliki was widely regarded as one of the very best boutique naturist resorts anywhere โ a 12-room property set in the beautiful, rugged west coast of Kefalonia, run by British owners Mark and Samantha Taylor with exceptional warmth, attention to detail and a gift for creating genuine community among guests. The intimate scale โ never more than 24โ30 guests at any time โ combined with a stunning pool terrace, sea views, superb food and a programme of boat trips, barbecues, meze evenings and naturist excursions made every repeat visit feel like a homecoming.
Kefalonia itself is one of the most beautiful of the Greek islands โ limestone peaks, emerald waters, the Myrtos beach, the Drogarati cave and a coastline of extraordinary variety. When Vassaliki finds its new home, it will be worth knowing about immediately.
Hotel Panorama is a charming, family-run naturist hotel in the Vasilikos peninsula of Zakynthos โ one of the most naturally beautiful corners of the Ionian Islands. Set among the family's own olive groves and citrus trees, the 3-star hotel is run by Natasha and her parents with a level of care and personal warmth that returns guests year after year; many guests have visited four or more times. Natasha manages the hotel and bar, her mother cooks traditional Greek meals from fresh and local ingredients, and her father tends the gardens.
Rooms are comfortable and clean with sea views from many, a fridge, and air conditioning available. An indoor pool and sauna are on site. The naturist area is on the hotel's section of beach; the legendary Gerakas Beach โ one of the most important loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches in the Mediterranean โ is a 20-minute walk away, offering a naturist sunbathing area at its far end. Porto Roma beach is 10 minutes' walk. Watching baby turtles emerge from the sand at Gerakas in the evening is a memory that guests describe as one of the most extraordinary of their lives. The hotel is quiet, unpretentious and genuinely naturist โ described by one long-term guest as "a true naturist hangout, no swingers, no kids."
Our love for naturism doesn't stop at South Africa's borders. If you know of a destination we should add to this directory, we would love to hear from you.
