The Canary Islands

Europe's year-round naturist paradise — volcanic landscapes, Atlantic beaches and some of the finest naturist resorts in the world, spread across four sun-drenched islands.

🌋 Lanzarote 🏖️ Fuerteventura 🌴 Gran Canaria 🌿 La Palma ☀️ Year-round sunshine

The Canary Islands sit in the Atlantic off the coast of West Africa — close enough to Europe to reach easily, far enough south to offer warm sunshine every month of the year. For naturists, they represent one of the most accessible and diverse destinations on the planet, with everything from intimate village apartments to full resort hotels, and some of the finest naturist beaches anywhere in the world.

Charco del Palo
📍 North-east coast · Lanzarote
World's only open naturist village Year-round

Charco del Palo is not a resort — it is a village. Founded around 1970 on the volcanic north-east coast of Lanzarote, it holds the remarkable distinction of being the world's only non-private naturist village: there are no gates, no entry fees, no checkpoints. You simply drive in, as you would any other Canarian pueblo, and naturism is simply how life is lived here.

The coastline is dramatic rather than sandy — black lava rocks, tidal pools and wild Atlantic views stretch in both directions. Three natural sea pools fill and empty with the tide, providing safe swimming in crystal-clear Atlantic water. There is a supermarket, three restaurants (where clothing is required), a diving school and a mix of private villas and apartment complexes to rent. The climate is mild year-round, making it equally appealing in January as in July. Most visitors are German, British and Dutch — and most return year after year.

Self-catering villas & apartments

Three of the most popular self-catering options within Charco del Palo, each with its own character and all sharing the village's open naturist ethos.

Casa Ronda is the most elevated of the three — two high-end villas set on a hillside above the village with a shared 8×4m pool and a 2,000m² garden of palms and giant cacti. Casa Ronda 1 sleeps up to six across three bedrooms; Casa Ronda 2 is on one level and sleeps four. Both have spectacular sea views and sun-drenched terraces that catch the light all day. Leather sofas, satellite TV, fully equipped kitchens and weekly linen changes make this a proper luxury naturist retreat.

Casa Sol Siempre and Casa Finisterre are part of the Las Piteras seafront complex at the southern end of the village, directly at the water's edge with a shared community pool, sun terraces and communal BBQ. Casa Finisterre has six apartments with direct sea views from the living room, and Casa Sol Siempre offers sea-facing studios and two-bedroom units in a slightly quieter position. Both are ideal for couples or small groups looking for a simple, relaxed naturist stay steps from the coast.

Castillo de Papagayo
📍 Charco del Palo · Lanzarote
Exclusively naturist 20 apartments

One of the more established apartment complexes in Charco del Palo, Castillo de Papagayo (also known as Conylanza) is an exclusively naturist complex — swimwear is not permitted in the pool or sunbathing areas at any time. Twenty recently renovated Canarian-style two-bedroom apartments are arranged around a large pool with lawns and sun loungers, just 170 metres from the sea and a five-minute walk from the village centre.

Each apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen and a terrace or balcony with views of the garden, pool or sea. The setting is peaceful and unhurried, perfectly suited to those who want a genuine naturist stay without the bustle of a large hotel. Sauna, fitness facilities, WiFi and free parking are included.

Charco Natural

Seafront apartments

Charco Natural is a small apartment complex within Charco del Palo, sitting directly on the rocky coastline and offering some of the most immediate sea access in the village. The natural tidal pool — the charca that gives the village its name — is right on the doorstep, a salt-water basin carved from the volcanic rock that fills and empties with each tide and remains one of the most beloved swimming spots in the whole resort.

Accommodation is self-catering, simple and well-positioned. For naturists who want to feel connected to the ocean and the volcanic landscape rather than a pool complex, Charco Natural delivers exactly that.

Finca del Mar

Central village location

As central as it gets in Charco del Palo, Finca del Mar is a naturist apartment complex positioned in the heart of the village within easy walking distance of the restaurants, supermarket and the coastal swimming areas. Guests frequently describe it as one of the most relaxed and sociable places to stay in the village — the kind of place where you settle in quickly and feel at home.

Apartments are well-equipped and comfortable, with terraces that catch the sun and a communal pool area for those who prefer a calmer swim to the ocean. The owner is attentive and well-reviewed, and the combination of central position and easy access to the whole village makes this a consistently popular choice.

Fuerteventura
Monte Marina Naturist Resort
📍 Playa de Esquinzo · Fuerteventura
Adults only Direct beach access

Monte Marina is one of the Canary Islands' most celebrated naturist resorts — a family-run aparthotel perched above the soft golden sands of Playa de Esquinzo on Fuerteventura's south-west coast. Adults-only and entirely naturist, it sits within 200 metres of the beach in a setting of lush tropical palm gardens with views across the Atlantic.

The resort has a saltwater swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre, restaurant and the acclaimed Safari Bar which serves legendary pizzas in the evenings. Apartments come with balcony or terrace, kitchenette, satellite TV and WiFi — everything needed for a self-contained naturist stay. Guests rate the staff warmth and the peaceful atmosphere consistently highly, and many return season after season. With Jandia's wider beaches and the extraordinary dunes of Playa de Sotavento within easy reach by car, the location is hard to fault.

Infiniti Sun Club
📍 Corralejo · Fuerteventura
Boutique naturist complex

Infiniti is a small, carefully designed naturist complex in Corralejo at the northern tip of Fuerteventura — one of the island's most appealing towns, known for its wide sandy beaches and laid-back character. The complex includes one large villa, two casas and eight apartments, ranging from solo studio stays to group celebrations, all sharing a heated pool, a year-round naturist rooftop terrace and a sauna.

What distinguishes Infiniti from larger resort properties is the detail: each accommodation is individually fitted out to a high standard, with private terraces, well-equipped open-plan kitchens and views of the pool or the surrounding landscape. The rooftop panoramic terrace looks across to Lanzarote and the island of Lobos on clear days. A naturist beach is within 500 metres. The complex suits those who value quality and privacy over volume.

Permanently closed
⚠️ Closed permanently: Gran Hotel Natura closed in 2018. We retain this entry for reference. The management team went on to open a naturist property on Gran Canaria — see Magnolias Natura below.

Gran Hotel Natura opened in Corralejo in 2012 and quickly became one of the most popular naturist hotels in the Canaries — right on the beach, open all year, easy from the airport and well run. It was well-loved by guests and its sudden closure in 2018 was widely lamented in the naturist community. If a future operator revives the site, it could be exceptional again given the location.

Naturist apartments

La Palma Natura offers naturist accommodation on the island of La Palma — the greenest and most mountainous of the Canary Islands, known as "La Isla Bonita" and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. La Palma is less developed for mass tourism than Lanzarote, Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria, which gives it a quieter, more authentic character that many naturists find deeply appealing.

The island's naturist beach at Los Tarajales in Tazacorte is easily reachable, and the dramatic landscapes — deep ravines, ancient laurel forests, volcanic peaks and the extraordinary Caldera de Taburiente — offer some of the finest hiking in the entire archipelago. The Roque de los Muchachos observatory makes La Palma one of the best stargazing destinations in Europe. We recommend verifying current availability and booking details directly.
