Charco del Palo is not a resort — it is a village. Founded around 1970 on the volcanic north-east coast of Lanzarote, it holds the remarkable distinction of being the world's only non-private naturist village: there are no gates, no entry fees, no checkpoints. You simply drive in, as you would any other Canarian pueblo, and naturism is simply how life is lived here.
The coastline is dramatic rather than sandy — black lava rocks, tidal pools and wild Atlantic views stretch in both directions. Three natural sea pools fill and empty with the tide, providing safe swimming in crystal-clear Atlantic water. There is a supermarket, three restaurants (where clothing is required), a diving school and a mix of private villas and apartment complexes to rent. One of the more established apartment complexes in Charco del Palo, Castillo de Papagayo (also known as Conylanza) is an exclusively naturist complex — swimwear is not permitted in the pool or sunbathing areas at any time. Twenty recently renovated Canarian-style two-bedroom apartments are arranged around a large pool with lawns and sun loungers, just 170 metres from the sea and a five-minute walk from the village centre.
Each apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen and a terrace or balcony with views of the garden, pool or sea. Charco Natural is a small apartment complex within Charco del Palo, sitting directly on the rocky coastline and offering some of the most immediate sea access in the village. The natural tidal pool — the charca that gives the village its name — is right on the doorstep, a salt-water basin carved from the volcanic rock that fills and empties with each tide and remains one of the most beloved swimming spots in the whole resort.

As central as it gets in Charco del Palo, Finca del Mar is a naturist apartment complex positioned in the heart of the village within easy walking distance of the restaurants, supermarket and the coastal swimming areas. Guests frequently describe it as one of the most relaxed and sociable places to stay in the village — the kind of place where you settle in quickly and feel at home.

Gran Hotel Natura opened in Corralejo in 2012 and quickly became one of the most popular naturist hotels in the Canaries — right on the beach, open all year, easy from the airport and well run. It was well-loved by guests and its sudden closure in 2018 was widely lamented in the naturist community. If a future operator revives the site, it could be exceptional again given the location.
Tucked into the protected green zone of the Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve, between Playa del Inglés and the lighthouse, Magnolias Natura is a charming naturist resort of 28 bungalows arranged around a central swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas. The location is outstanding — quiet and leafy, yet with a free shuttle bus to Gran Canaria's famous naturist beach just minutes away.
The resort has a poolside bar, restaurant and a shaded terrace that becomes the natural gathering point for guests. The atmosphere is relaxed, social and repeat-visitor-heavy — people who discover Magnolias Natura tend to return.
