In May 2025 we visited the Kruger Cliffs Lodge in the Hoedspruit area. We had heard from friends that the accommodation was upmarket and COMPLETELY PRIVATE – ideal for our nudist group tours. Apart from that, the lodge is a stone's throw from the Kruger National Park – the Orpen Gate Entrance and not far from the famous Panorama Route which includes God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon, Graskop Gorge and many Waterfalls.
When making the booking, we were immediately impressed with the way that we were handled. The communication was amazing and a few days before arrival we received a message to say that we can book in anytime and that the cottage is ready. On arrival the owner was standing in the parking area showing us where to park (undercover) and with a clipboard in his hands. He welcomed us as if we were existing friends and he showed us our cottage – emphasising that we would have Complete Privacy.
Amanda and I quickly took pictures and then we unpacked. The cottage is spacious and modern with new equipment in the well fitted kitchen which is perfect for self-catering. There is even an automatic dishwashing machine with soap and there is a large fridge/freezer. Everything in the kitchen was perfect. The kitchen, lounge and dining area are open plan, with very fast WiFi and we were quite happy that there was no TV. The lounge suite was comfortable, and it could be converted into a bed for children.
In total, there are 3 identical one-bedroom cottages, plus a double-story cottage which has two bedrooms. The bedrooms each have an EXTRA-LENGTH, King-size Bed with mosquito nets and bedside lamps. There were no mosquitos, but we still closed the net. The bathroom has twin wash basins, a shower and toilet and a door leading to an outdoor shower which can only be described as WOW! There is complete privacy and there is an outside door which leads to the deck and Splash Pool. The pool has 3 different depths which makes it unique. While in the pool, guests look onto a forest and there is nobody in sight. There, on the deck, we saw the other table and a kettle braai.
The Belgium couple who owns the lodge are both qualified tour guides and they know the area well and of course they know everything about the Kruger National Park and numerous excursions in the area. The Welcome Folder in the cottage had plenty of valuable information – we really didn't need to ask much but we enjoyed speaking to the owners. We have already booked for 2 nights in July 2025. We look forward to spending time there again! We think that the lodge is perfect for honeymoon couples, for any romantic couple and of course for naturists.
